sending cash

Sending cash through the mail is taking a tremendous risk, but we realize that most of our users have no other choice. Depending on where you live, money orders can cost up to 3 dollars, and not everyone has the luxury of sending checks (which can take up to 2 weeks to clear). Here are some tips for keeping your money safe during its long journey from you to your seller's mailbox.

Conceal your cash. And conceal it well. Deviant postal workers and other thieves have certain methods for detecting cash in an envelope, and they also have certain methods for extracting it. Use security envelopes for all of your transcations. Don't just wrap your money in paper - try using some of the sturdy cardboard found in the back of notepads.

Do not send coins. Sending coins in your payment poses a great risk. In fact, the chance for theft more than quadruples when including coins in your transaction. Don't be miserly when sending your money this way - including an extra twenty five cents is a small price to pay, considering what could happen. If you decide to send coins, conceal them even better than you would cash. Adhere them to some sturdy, heavily folded cardboard.

Only send cash to a reputable seller. Do a quick background check on the person you're planning to send cash to. Do they have good a feedback rating? How many positive feedback comments do they have? Have you done business with them before? Even these things aren't a guarantee that your cash will be safe, so be careful. Try insuring your envelope or tracking it - insurance is only 75¢ for up to 50 dollars.

Decieve potential pilferers. The more your letter looks like an innocent note to a chum or a penpal, the less interested thieves are going to be in finding out its contents. A person interested in stealing will not pay any attention to an envelope decorated with markers, glitter, and stickers. Make your envelope look like the last thing it would contain is cash.

Secure your envelope. Make sure your envelope is impossible to casually open. Use superglue and assorted adhesives to seal it shut, and follow that up with some tape. Bind the edges, and write along the flaps. Do not have any noticable indicators that there is cash inside the envelope.
