Be reasonable. Be clever.
Don't go overboard with your prices. Don't expect to get 5 dollars for something you paid $2.50 for. Don't charge a dollar more than you have to for shipping. Outrageously priced items and shipping costs are a big turn off to potential buyers. If your item doesn't sell the first time, try spicing up your title or lowering the price a bit. You may even want to add in a sticker or some other goody to entice your fellow users to bid.

Check it out.
Most people are good, but there are some sneaky individuals out there who love to take advantage of a well meaning individual. Check out your buyer's feedback. Click on the link next to the word "feedback" to see comments other users have left for this person. Get to know their reputation. Remember, it's your time and money involved here.

Play nice. This means you have to share.
When a potential buyer e-mails you, respond promtly. Word your reply nicely, Answer all of their questions. Address them as if they're an actual human being. Use correct grammar. Spell your words correctly. Forming complete sentences is also a plus.

Be sure to take notes.
If you're the seller of an item, you should take notes. Keeping track of your dealings is a good way to avoid misunderstandings. This means you should keep a record of the following: username of the high bidder, e-mail address of the bidder, your item description, your item number, the final price of the item, and the closing date or your auction.

Reach out and touch someone.
Contact your high bidder. Make the first e-mail. Don't be bashful. They want your item as much as you want your payment. Contacting your buyer first not only shows a seller eager to complete a transaction, but a person who genuinely is interested in dealing with a buyer. Keep in mind that not everyone reads their email everyday, so if someone doesn't reply to you after a day or two, don't think that they're ignoring you. They'll probably respond soon.
